Kirk Cousins, Vikings Have Mutual Interest

Kirk Cousins has spent his entire six-year career with the Washington Redskins. Now, however, it looks like he will bu suiting up for a different team in the first time in his career.

As he approaches free agency, many teams are on the table which would be viable options for him. The Broncos, Jets, Cardinals and Vikings have all been in the conversation, but the Vikings seem to be the frontrunner at this point.

Gil Brandt of said that both parties have mutual interest in each other.

This comes on the brink of the Redskins acquiring quarterback Alex Smith, which is the potential replacement of Cousins. The Redskins could give Cousins the franchise tag, but Washington Post’s Kimberly A. Martin reported that Cousins would file a grievance with the league if this were to happen.

Minnesota serves as a very viable option for Cousins, as Benjamin Albright reported that it’s not about the money for him, but where he can be a contender and make a deep postseason run.

The Vikings notched one of their most successful season in franchise history last year, totaling a 13-3 record while making an appearance in the NFC championship where they lost to the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

The only area where this team is lacking is at the quarterback position. While Case Keenum had a very successful year, may still doubt his dependability as a consistent starting quarterback.

Cousins has had a good career this far, it’s simply his inability to convert in key moments of the game that have been his downfall.

Nonetheless, he is still a very good quarterback and good elevate this vikings team to one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the league.
